We recommend giving up caffeine because of the adrenal stress that higher amounts of caffeine can have on the body. When we are detoxing, it’s typically most advantageous to decrease cortisol levels. Caffeine can fatigue the adrenal gland and increase cortisol levels when too much is consumed.
Some of the ways we recommend letting go of caffeine is by using green tea or by using more alkalizing versions of coffee like decaf or teeccino, an herbal coffee blend. There are also a couple of non-coffee varieties that taste similar to coffee, but it just depends on whether you are having a tough time coming of coffee because of the flavor or because of the effects. It’s important to identify which is true in your situation.
